A WIRRAL mum emerged triumphant in a national Christmas cookery competition run by the Women’s Institute.
Yasmin Limbert, of Neston WI group, The Wirral Belles journeyed down to Birmingham’s NEC for the semi-final, after seeing her recipes selected ahead of hundreds of thousands of others.
Yasmin, andfour fellow semi-finalists, then tried to wow the judges in a live cook-off at the BBC’s Good Food Show.
Demonstrating her dining dexterity, Yasmin rose to the top of the rankings with her turkey roulade with chestnut, apricot and date stuffing, followed by a festive take on bread and butter pudding.

Named simply, “Christmas bread and butter pudding”, Yasmin made use of mincemeat, cinnamon, orange and cranberries to inject some yuletide flavour into the British classic.
Celebrity chef, and competition judge, Brian Turner said: “The competition was really tough but Yasmin shone as a deserving winner, not only because of her wonderful personality whilst cooking in front of an audience, but also because her recipe for Christmas bread and butter pudding was truly exceptional.”
Yasmin won £1,500 to spend on Stoves appliances, as well as a choice of cookery courses.
Yasmin said: “I am over the moon to be crowned the winner of Yule Britannia, especially as I was so nervous cooking live in front of so many people.Š Thankfully my dishes went according to plan so I can fly the flag high for my local WI group, The Wirral Belles.”
